POST OFFICE BROKEN INTO

■ EFFORTS' MADE TO OPEN A SAFE. Yest&day morning it waß discovered that the Paekakariki Post Office had been broken into during the niglit and an effort made to force open the saie. Evidence showed that entrance had been gained through a window, while the safe showed unmistakable signs of having ' beeft tampered with. The efforts ill the latter direction were unsuccessful. A safe expert had to be Called in,'however, to.reopen the safe as the efforts made to break it open had left their effects' on it.. Northing' was taken from the building. The local police have been informed of the attempted burglary, and an officer has been dispatched to Paekakariki.
