STATEMENT BY MR. MASSEY GOVERNMENT POSSESSES A CLEAR MAJORITY. Auckland, February 9. The Prime -Minister, who arrived in Auckland last evening, said that, as a result of the Dunedin ■ by-electian- the Government now possessed a clear majority, and that unless any special business . cropped -up requiring immediate atfcention there would be no necessity to call Parliament together before June. "I am confident," added Mr. Massey, "that when Parliament does meet it will be found that this majority will be maintained." "The result of the Dunedin by-elec-tion has saved the Dominion from the danjer of a dissolution and tihe turmoil of another general election, which at the present time is certainly to be regarded as exceedingly undesirable."
