The Petone Municipal Band paid tt) visit to Fort Ballanoe yesterday, and; were handsomely entertained. A programme of music waß performed an® much appreciated by the gunners. Tha promptitude of a neighbour, ooupled with the smartness of the Fire Brigade happily subdued aji outbreak, of fire at 52 Waipapa Road on Saturday. The neighbour gave tha alarm to the brigade, and had his garden hose at. work wlion it arrived on the scene. Tha. house; a five-roomed one, occupied by, Ijudwig Sandberg and owned by L. C. Roskruge, Tinakori Road, escaped serious damage, a partition wall between the dining and: sitting rooms being all that was burnt., The contents of the house, insured for £350 in the Royal Insurance Office, wore slightly damaged.
