DEPUTATIONS AT WAIROA. . (By Meerapli.—Press AssoclatlonJ i Walroa, February 6. The Hon. R. H. Rhodes. and thß Hon, H.'D. Bell arrived from Waikaremoana yesterday, and- gave brief audi-, ence to representatives from the Borough. Council, .Chamber of (Commerce, and Harbour \ Board. The questions brought up were the starting of the central section of railway at Wairoa, metalling the Napier road, a stock roaa to Rotorna., harbour endowment, merging a part of tie Napier Harbour rating area in,"Wairoa, and tho acquiring of land-at Waikaremoana for scenery, purposes. Regarding the Tailway, Mr. Bell tos impressed by the statement that heavy, plant could be landed alongside tha work. The Napier road construction and metalling 6hould, be said, bo mainly provided for by special tax, as provided by the Motor Tax Bill of last session. On tie question of harbour endowment, he said that if the Ward Government gave a promise to grant 1000 acres it was the only one not carried out by the present Government. Regarding a stock track to Rotorna*. Mr. Rhodes said it was very hard to get Mr. Fraser to provide tourist roads while the back-blocks needed opening up. He feared there was no room for a road for both purposes ' except by. widening the road,round the lake. He gave very little hope of.acquiring busb to the skyline for scenic purposes, but said efforts would still be made in that direction. The Ministers left for Morere Hot Springs, in the evening.
A requirement very mucli in demand during this hot weather is ice. In an-" other column the Fresh Food and Ice Co, Dixon Street, advertiso that they have ice for sale in blocks of 7, 14, 28, and 561bJ .delivered to any part of the city.
