RIFLE-SHOOTING
THE TARANAKI MEETING. The Taranaki Riflo Association's meeting was continued to-day. The grand aggregate was won by Hunt (Wellington Suburbs), 316; Roots (Patea), 315, being runner-up. The long range aggregate! was won by Roots. Teams match —Ohura, 1; Wellington Suburbs, 2. Stratford match, 900 yards and 1000 yards—Roots, 61; G. Loveday (Ohura), 60. Now Plymouth match, 800 and 1000 yards—H. Hunt (Suburbs), 64: W. Healy (Ohura), 62; H. Loveday (Ohura), 62; Sergt-Major Hesp (Inglowood), 62; C. Speck (Stratford), 62. This afternoon at Trentham the Karon Riflo Club will fire its service series. This consists of the annual musketry course, as laid down by regulations, and is compulsory for all members. No aperture sights or slings are allowed; the rifles must bo used as issued, but sliding "v's" are allowed. If possible the whole forty rounds will be fired to-day. Fiyo trophies have been allotted to this shoot, the first prize being a silver cup, presented by Mrs. Halpin, wife of Major J. P. Halpin. The other four prizes are provided by the club.
