The Bgmont Racing Club was favoured with beautiful weather for the first day of the Summer Meeting. The attendance wa3 large, but a. little below that of the corresponding day last yeax. St. Gate was first -to break the line, but was immediately supplanted by Armature and Ascalon. Tho last-named led into the etraight, and passing the stand was ahead, with Kaitua and St. Gate next. A good race from tho distance resulted in favour of Katua by three-quarters of a length. Tirohanga was third, five leDgthe away, followed by St. Gate, Glen Nevis, and Naupata close ■ up. Quo Vadis and Kosalys were first into the straight, with Draft handy, but Quo Vadis held his lead to the post and won nicely by a length from Patronymic aud Combustion, who came from the back and filled the placee. The New Zealand Trotting Association met last evening, and want into committee to consider the trouble between the Auckland Trotting Club and the Northern Owners', Trainers', and Breeders Association over the recent Twycott. After consideration it was decided to hold the matter over to a special meeting on February 12.
