ST. JOHN AMBULANCE
SERVICES IT THE FRONT. Some- interesting figures have been issued by the authorities of the St. John Ambulance Brigade with, reference to what lias so far been done in connection with the present war. From August 1 to November 11. the number of men of the brigade called up for duty was. 6818, this large number having been distributed as follovs:— : •Serving with the Eoyal Navy (sick berth reserve), 1614; serving in military hospitals in England,, 4076: serving with the R.A-M.C. of the Expeditionary Force, 474; on military hospital ship Oxfordshire, 36 '';. in hospitals on lines of communication in France, • 78; serving- on ambulance train in France, 42; in the Allied'forces' Base Hospital .at Boulogne, 46; serving in France under St. John Ambulance, 158; in private hospitals abroad,'B4; and at Home, 65;. miscellaneous military establishments, 150. . ; ■: Since the publication of the above figures, the number of men on i active duty has been increased to 7500, while there are 2762 in reserve ready to go out as soon as required.
