The cause of tho accident wiis the omission of Johnston to coniply with the railway regulations. That omission was an. omission to dischargu a' legal duty, .amounting to culpablo ueglgence. ~ Later. As a sequel to the Coronor's finding, Harry Johnston, the man in charge of tho gang of signal erectors at tho time of tho accident, has been charged with manslaughter. A romand was granted for a week, bail being fixed at £40. FARM HAND DROWNED. Cambridge, February. 3. A farm hand named Thomas Giimore, employed on the Gordon Estate, near Cambridge, was drowned in the Waikato River, while bathing with two lads this afternoon, ' It is believed that Gilmore was carried into a whirlpool. The body of deceased has not yet Deen 'ecovered. Gilmore was about 30 years of age, and was to have been married shortly. . SUICIDE AT GISBORNE. Cisborne, February. 3. James Muir, aged forty-seven years, employed as a carter at the freezing works, committed suicide this morning. The body was found hanging in a cartshed. ■
