TROOPS AT SAMOA
WELL OFF FOR CLOTHES. "Don't you believe i. all the yarns about the , rags for clothes," writes a New Zealand soldier at Samoa in a letter home. "Our suits aro all in good condition. Every man has cither two or three suits, and wo only wear trousers and shirts. I have two pairs of white suits (they are fine), one of riding breeches, one pair of long trousers, one pair of overalls, and the tunic which we never wear. We have five singlets each and three shirts (besides our own). Each man has two pairs of boots (iiud gets them repaired for nothing), and four pairs of socks. Wo are also supplied with towels, soap, repair outfit of needles, cotton, knife, fork, spoons, plate, etc., two pairs of nndor-drawers, which we never wear. The infantry also have short trousers, reaching to the knee, and stockings that fit over socks as well. I have not seen a natched or ragged suit on the island."
