NO CONTENTIOUS BUSINESS. London, February 2. The Prime Minister (Mr. Asquith) speaking in the House of Commons cordially welcomed the Opposition's criticisms and co-operation. He promised an early report of the Committee inquiring into food prices. The Marquis of Crewe, in the House of Lords, said the- Government did not intend to produce contentious business, but would confine itself to the prosecution of the war. The Select Committee's report on pensions and grants recommends 255. weekly for disabled fighters, and increased allowances for children.
