EDUCATIONAL ASSOCIATION

ADDRESS TO PETONE WORKERS. Mr. D. Stewart, of. the Sydney Trades and Labour Council, addressed a meeting at St. Augustine's Hall. Petone. last evening, on behalf of the .Workers' Educational Association. Mr. W. B. Ni.cholson was chairman, and there was a moderate attendance. The speaker outlined the object of the movement, which was, briefly, to create a social democracy, and expressed the opinion that there .could be.no fixed limit to the activities of such_ an association; the movement was social as well as intellectual, and though but twelve years since it was commenced in England, it had grown to such an extent that it could ; be safely, said that the ideals of the founders had been realised. It had been established in the Commonwealth;in the United States, South Africa.- ."nd was now about to be established in New Zealand. Mr. Stewart referred also to the methods employed, by the association to reach the workers, and the various activities already taken in hand, j The speaker was accorded an attentive , hearing, and at the conclusion of the | address answered several questions.
