' ] It was reported that the week's can- ] vassing had secured 1000 names. Five '. thousand valid signatures were required to secure a poll. i The election of. officers resulted:— : President, Mr. R. Pearson; vice-presi-dent. Mr. J. Church, and others who are to be approached; secretary, Mr. A. W. Croskery; tflreasnrer, Mr. A. J. Humphries. Tho vice-presidents are to include many employers, and several union secretaries. It was decided to appoint canvassers for signatures to the petition.
