Evidence was given on behalf of the pastoralists, and it was maintained that the increase was largely duo to the absorption of pastoral lands for dairying purposes; the increased percentage of animals suffering from tuberculosis; war demands; the cost of running stations which was now 10 per cent, above'that of ten years ago, and'to the fact that the Australian Meat 0 Company was financed from the United States.'""l
