SOLWAY SHOW.
Entries for the Solway Show, to be held by the Masterton A. and P. Association on February 16 and 17, will close with the secretary (Mr. J. B. Emmett, Bos 40, Masterton), on Saturday next, at 9 p.m. It is stated that the show this year promises to eclipse any exhibition of stock ever before seen in Wairarapa. The- association, in addition to substantial cash prizes, are allotting a number of valuable trophies for competition in the various sheep, cattle, and horse sections. The 6.' C. Wheeler Memorial Shield, carrying with it the N.Z. Ilomney Marsh Sheep Breeders' Association's gold medal, will be competed for,' while in Southdowns, besides trophies, there will be awarded the N.Z. Sheep-breeders' Association's gold medal for the champion ram. The substantial prizes in the cattle- classes are expected to draw large entries. In the purebred Shorthorn section, there will be the Matengatenga Cup to compete for. In the fat cattle classes, the association, in addition to ordinary prizes, are offering special prizes. The horse, 3og, home ■ industries, dairy produce, horticultural and school children's classes have been liberally catered for. An attractive list of competitions has been drown up, including the champion jump (£SO), leaping competition (£l7), consolation jump (£l6), maiden jumping (£l4), trotting, driving, walking, ana pony jumping. The annual ram and ewe fair will be held on February 18 and 19, entries closing on February 1 with the auctioneers. No late.entries wil lbe accepted. The N.Z. Roniney Marsh Association's ram fair will be held at 1 p.m.- on the first day of the show, and will be conducted and controlled by the association's ram fair. committee.
