SEATOUN TRAMWAY SERVICE

. (To tho Editor.) _ Sir, —Through The Dominion I should like to bring before the City-Council's uotice the scandalous manner in wliich the tram service to Seatoun is conducted. It certainly appears that this lino has been neglected by tho council, and the number of cars in service are far inadequate to cope with the traffic. On Saturday, for instance, one car was so crowded that'at least five passengers had to stand on the footboard from H-ataitai while tho platforms at each end of tho cars wero absolutely packed. It was quite impossible for • the conductor to collcct all fares from the boundary,, and I know that- at least ' twelve fares were never collected.- Nor is this ail isolated caso of overcrowding; last night about eight Seatoun residents were unable to got oil the 5.2 a oar at Courtenay I'laco, aud had to wait for lialf an hour for tho next car. I am only a temporary resident at tlie bay, but I have seen enough of this tram service to convince mo that it is absolutely the worst conducted in Australasia. How the Seatoun people can put up with such a state of affairs I am unable to understand, and surely »t_ is about time that they began tc stir themselves and take the matter uj. vigorously with the council. —I am, etc.,' STRAPHANGER.
