At about 3.30 on Saturday aftemootfr a fire broke out in a house on the Hufct Road, owned by T. Price, and occupied by Mr. T. Henry. As tha dwelling was very old and a rtronff wind was blowing at the time it wns a close call for the -whole block of houses adjacent. Fortunately the oocupants were able to check the flamed before tlio Petone Fire Brigade arrived,'' and littlo damage was done. The firei originated through a brick becoming dislodged from the chimney, and aU lowing the flames to come in contacti with the'lining boards. The house was, liot insured, but the furniture was cov ered in the Ocean Office for £100.
