'ANNUAL CONimENOE. (By Telegraph.—Preu Aseociatlon.) Chrlstchufch, January 22. The, annual conference of the New Zealand Athletio and Qycling Union oommonced' this morning. Mr. J. Kennedy, the president, in his address, said ho regretted that the Auckland Centre bad decided to 6ecodo. He'felt sure tbo sport would decline in Amckland if tho matter was not settled. The report and balance-sheet Bhowed that affairs were in a satisfactory state. The receipts for tho year amounted to £836 6s. 9d., and the expenditure to £288 19b. 6d. The.following remits were passed:— From Marlborough and Nelson Centre: "That tho following words be added to Rule .47;—' But no competitor shall be rehandicapped in any race after *Eo has competed in any heat in such raoe.'" From Otago: "That the N.Z.A. and C. Union take over the control of tugs-of-war events, and frame rules to govern the same." "That oyclists be required to put in their last two years' performances, or if'theyhavonot competed for two years, then their last twelve performances." It was decided to hold tho next annual conference at Masterton. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows: —Patron, Mr. C. TV. Wood; president, Mr. J. Kennedy; vice-presidents, Messrs. D. F. M'Kay, J. F. Wilson, J. Clarke; committee, Messrs. A. Jansen, A. J. Fisher, J. P. Kalaugher, M. Lavery, J. Collingwood; secretary and treasurer, Mr. H.-H. Frasor; attditor, Mr. Shrimpton. A discussion ensued with regard to tho secession of the Auckland Contro, the deliberation Joeing in committee. On resuming the following resolution was passed: "That tho matter bo left in the hands of tho oxocutivo with a recommendation that an amicable settlement bo arrived at if possible."
