ATHLETIC SPORTS.

SWIMMING REGATTA AT WORSES, BAY. The wretched weather 'yesterday interfered with the regatta of the Worser Bay Swimming dub at Worsar Bay. The committee of tho regatta, although somewhat disheartened, persevered gallantly _ in the blustering wind and blinding rain and went through the programme. The attendance' was remarkably good,- however, while the entries were likewise encouraging. It was not to be wondered that the projected marine explosion did not -eventuate in the unsettled state of affairs. Among those present at the gathering were: Mr. 6. S. Hill (president of the Royal Life-saving Society), and Sir. 0. R. Collier (secretary of the same society). A large number of representatives from kindred clubs were also present. The regatta committee was as follows: —Secretary, Mr. S. T. Silver; committee, Messrs. Q. Green (capt.), 0. T.,801l (vice-capt.), L. TV. Green, A. Latta, D. Griffiths, P. Alexander, A. 0. Wheatlev, and G. J. Fuller; starter, Mr. R. Fullerton; handicappers, Messrs L. Silver and C. T. Bell; judges, Mossrs G. Williams, A. E. Shaw, and B. Mel-' lier.

(Bj Telegraph.—Special Correspondent.) Masterton, January 22. The Wairarapa Amateur • Swimming Club held its annual carnival to-day, in fine weather. There was a large number of visiting competitors. The Ladies' Bracelet and the 440 Yards Championship were both won by F Seymour of Napier, in fine style. The Wellington "A '■ Team won the relay race.

YACHTING.

ONLY ONE RACE HELD. Yesterday's half gale and rain from the north quite spoilt the yacht raceß which had been arranged for the holiday. Only one race was held, and that was an event for the bigger yachts of the Port Nicholson Olub. The smaller oraft did- not stir out of the Boat Harbour. Six yaohts took part in the event, whioh was won by Windward. Ailsa was second and Bona third. Ailsa and Rono Btarted off scratch, and Windward had a start of 18 minutes. Ailsa was first home, but Windward's handicap enabled her to win by 2min. 9seo. , Other Btarters were: Atalanta (10 min.V whioh did not finieh; Muritai (13 min.K which retired; Siren (22min.), which also gave up. The course (about 12 miles) wbb from the Clyde Quay wharf to Falcon Shoal buoy, then to Korokcro, then to Jerningham buoy, and then to the finishing lias. Ailsa took 2hr. 40min. 25seo. to complete the course; Windward took 2hr. 51min. 16sec; and Rena, 2hr. 62min. 25seo. ■'' '- ' RIFLE SHOOTING MANAWATU. ASSOCIATION'S . MEETING.
