At Trentham to-day, the Wellington Racing Club's Summer (Meeting will be continued, and, as good acceptances have been received for the different handicap events, it will only require fine weather to make the day's spotf successful. A very large attendance of the public is expected, and, to cope with the rush of 'traffic, special railway arrangements are announced.: Trains will leave Te Aro Station for the racecourse at 10 a.m., 10.21 a.m., 10.89 a.m., 10.54 a.m., and 12.13 p.m. From Lambton Station the special trains for the racecourse will depart at 10.19 a.m., 10.37 a.m., 10.55 a.m., 11.4 a.m., 11.15 a.m., and 12.23 p.m. For winning , the Trentham Welter on Wednesday Jem has been raised 101b. in. the Mungaroa Welter Handicap, in •which the distance is a furlong less than Wednesday's race. On all, sides it u admitted that he is well treated, and he is sure to be warmly supported. A fresh candidate'in the raoe is the Englishbred Bonny Rigg, a recent winner at Ellerslie. She will be ridden by B. Deeley, while Arlington will have the services of H. Cairns. Beldame, who failed to gain a pace in the open six furlongs on Wednesday, is to be given a chance in the January Welter, one mile, to-day. She has a good deal of weight to oarry, but is almost certain to start favourite. Stepney will probably oarry; most money of the remaining candidates. Crown Pearl and Master Achilles may find it diffioult to get to the end of the mile. Sea Pink and Court Martial are the fresh horses in the Wellington Racing Club Handicap. B. Deeley will be on the Cup winner, Pavlova, whose appearance, on the track yesterday morning gave the impression that »he had benefited by Wednesday's race. She will meet Indigo on 41b. worse terms to-day than when she defeated the chestnut gelding in the Cup. Byron is considered a doubtful starter, but Fair Rosamond, who finished third in the Cup, will take her place in the field again to-day.:. In the Fitzherbert Handicap,-Samisen is top weighty and because or a victory gained in the south has to ooncede weight to Interlude, who is only a placegetter. Harlequin (brother to Counterfeit) is to be ridden by B. Deeley, and the Australian-bred Marco Bello will bo O. Emerson's mount in the race.. In his only start at Ellerslie, Marco Bello Bhowed fair form, and he : will no doubt be sent out favourite to-day. The Douro Cup should provide an interesting race as the field of ten inoludes several capital performers. Plunder has been winning all along the line during the past couple of months, and Scotch Melody has won in open company. On looks and performances, Gold Soult is a good colt, and it is worthy of note that his sire, Gold Crest, won several mile handicaps. Banksia exhibited fair form in good oompany on Wednesday, and on the same day another of the candidates, Football, rah a splendid race in the Cup. when a New Zealand record was established.
Croesus will doubtless be the public favourite in the Metropolitan Handicap, although the opposition will be muob stronger than that which he met with on Wednesday. Hoy should run well again, and Wisebird and Belasco will meet ivith. considerable support. The last-named has apparently improved with the racing he had in Auckland. Emperador has not yet struck his best form, but he ran a g&od six furlongs in the Waterloo Stakes. Fabrikoff may be better for the race he had on the opening day.
In the Stakos, for, two and three-year-olds, jockeys will probably be mounted as follows:—R. Berry on Rangitero, W. Bell on Flying Start, O- Stnwe on Gold Foil, A. Reed on Hymettius, an 48, Doc ley on Dinnor Gong,
