These have been included at the {Suggestion of the Board of Agriculture, are the immediate outcome of'the '•present war. The prize for' the best troop horse is a rose bowl, valued at £5 i-ss;, given by Mr. S. D. Thomson; with ;a, second prize valued at 2gns., while the 'first prize for the best horse for artil■lery purposes is valued at £3 35., and i'the second at £2 2s. Entry day is :gradually drawing nearer, being_ only : a week away, so that those who intend ■'■being represented in the various sections should make a point of sending Itheir entries without dolay to the secretary, Mr. P. C. Stubbs, Ward Street, jDannevirke. It is stated that indications 'point to the show being quite up to the •standard of previous years. 'A strong yjist of judges has been secured, some of Sihem new men to the district, which ■should give additional satisfaction to intending exhibitors. Entries close on , (Wednesday, January 27, next, and entries for the annual Ram Fair on Mon'day, February 1. A Mangamaire (Pahiatua) farmer had the- excellent percentage of 137 lambs last sprint. A line of 204 ewes produced 280 .lambs. Of the latter 95 per cent were disposed of recently to a fat stock' buyer at ruling rates while the balance were sold at the Pahiatua stock sale this week at 10s. 6d. per head. —Pahiatua correspondent.
