Mr. ;\Jann'a telegram to Mr. Hughes stressed the point that the New South Wales Government, in accepting the stipulation, was doing so solely to hasten the Kaiapoi's departure in view of the desperate oase of New Zoaland, leaving the final settlement to the Commission. There has been five days' demurrage at. the rate of £60 daily.
