AMATEUR ATHLETICS.

NEW ZEALAND ASSOCIATION - MEETS. 'A meeting of the New Zealand Araa- H, teur Athletic Association was held last _ night. Mr. W.|F. Larkin (vice-presi-dent) was in the chair. There were also present: Messrs. A. A. Marryatt, J. C. Cusack, A. Davies, D. A. Guise, C. E. Bridges, M. Burnett, and W. H. Pollock. The main item under discussion was in' reference to a communication from tho Auckland Centre inouiring whether, in view of the present unsettled state of affairs, it would be desirable not to hold the New Zealand championships this year. Mr. Marryatt said that it was to be regretted that the Auckland Centre could not vee its way to participate' in the ohampionship meeting. He was sure, however, that Canterbury would be only too willing to hold the meeting , dovn there. Moreover, _ without casting any reflection on Wellington, it would be productive of much good in more ways than one to hold it there. He moved that the championship meeting be 'held this .year at Canterbury. This did not meet with the approval of the meeting, arid as a result of a sug- ■ gestionfrom another member, Mr.'Mar- • ryatt moved: "That in the opinion of the Council the New Zealand championship meeting should be held 'this year as usual.' That in the eveiit of Auckland being unable to carry out the meet-. ' ing the championship meeting be allocated to the Canterbury Centre." The motion was carried. A telegram : to this effect.is to be sent to the Auck- ■ land Centre. Reinstatements were granted as fol--1 low:—A. Stokes, P. J. Kilminster, 1 John M. Gaggin, -T. White, W. M. M Lean, and Robert Kirk. The appli--1 cations in respect to B. K. M'Kernan I and W. D. Boreham were deferred.
