SWIMMING.
An "at home" was held at Thorndon Baths on Saturday afternoon by the Thorndon Amateur Swimming Club. The weather was beautifully fine, and thero was an excellent attendance. Three teams competed in a 200 yards relay race, the result being as follows: A. W. Smith's team (A. W. Smith. G. M'Carthy, H. Little, and C. Sheeny), scratch', 1; H. W. Harris's team (H. W. Harris: T. H. M'Lean, 0. Desmond, and L. Higgle), Msec., Si-W. X O'Meara's team (W. J. O'Meara, A. Marama,-A. M. Farrall,' and W. Lomas), Bsec„ 3. A very good finish, the first man home winning by about a yard, and the second beating the third by about a foot. , , The ladies' race, 50 yards, was wonoy Miss Mavis M'Lean At the conclusion of the ladies' race, afternoon tea was handed round by the club members, and Mr. T. "Ronayne, 1.5.0., the president of the cluh. presented a trophy (donated by Mr. J; F. Atkins) to the winner of the ladies'' race.
