SOLWAY SHOW

The twenty-eighth annual show of the Masterton A. and P. Association is to. be held- on the beautiful Solway Showgrounds on February 16 and 17. This year an increase in prize money has been made. In addition valuable cups and other trophies have been allotted to various, classes. In the Rornncy Marsh sheep section breeders are being particularly, well provided for.. There will be the G. C. ; Wheeler memorial shield _for the best'Romney Marsh ram bred in New Zealand and shown at Solway; the W.B. Allen silver cup, for the most points in the Romney Marsh classes; the Perry silver '■■ salver for the best Romney ram under 21 months; the Brancepeth.cup, (valued at 25 guineas), for the best pen of four Romney rams under 21' months, and the Johnston rose bowl, for the best Romney ram lamb. The winner of the Wheeler memorial shield will also bo awarded a handsome gold medal, presented by the N.Z. Romney Marsh Sheep-breeders' Association. The breeders of Romneys will have an' additional inducement to exhibit at Solway in that the New Zealand Romney Marsh Sheep-breeders' Association's ram fair will be held in conjunction with'the A. and P. Association's ram fair.' Special care is taken of all stock by the association, covered-in pens being provided for all animals, and a "plentiful supply of green feed being available free of cost. Entries for the show will close on" January 30 at 9p.m., with the secretary (Mr. J. B. Emmett, box 40, Masterton), late entries being received up to and including February 6 on tho payment of one shilling per.entry for laite fee. The annual ram and ewe fair will be held on February 18 and 19. Entries close with the auctioneers on Monday, February-1, : and no late entries will be accepted. ■•.'.-•
