DANNEVIRKE A. & P. SHOW

Information of a useful character to intending exhibitors at the sixth annual show of the Dannevirke A. and P. Association is contained in the schedule, Which is now obtainable- on application to the secretary, Mr. F. C. Stubbs, Ward Street, Dannevirke. A . handy time-table of the running of trains convoying stock for the show is given, also a table of the railage cost, and details of railway concessions on stock, implements, etc. All live stock, excepting horses, should be sent to Mangatera, and horses and nil other exhibits should be consigned to Dannevirke. Live stock for exhibition will be received at either of the stations named or. tho show ground and conveyed to their respective paddocks or pen. A full staff of drovers is employed by the association, good paddocks are provided free of cost for all stock coming from a distance, and there is. always a plentiful } supply of green feed on the ground on botfi days of the show.

A gentleman possessed of intimata knowledge of agricultural matters iu tho Clutba-Bruce districts stated to a "Balclutha Free Press'-' representative that never previously had ho seen such marvellous growth in grass and crops as had taken place in the past few days since tho weather grew warm. "Tho way the grass and turnips have come on," ho said, "is like magio." On the flat lands in the neighbourhood of Balclutha and Stirling thi6 growth has been particularly marked, and turnip crops that at one stage wore,practically at a- standstill, in consequence of the continued cold wjnds, are now covering the ground, and the .leaves are meeting in the rows. Grass fields have similarly made a splendid recovery, and the anxieties of the farmer concerning- win-' tor feed have vanished. There are some good potato crops in the district, also oats,- but the aggregate yield of - tho latter is expected to bo less than usual.
