' ft THE DOMINION TOURNAMENT FULL RINK MATCH [ (By Telegraph.-rPress Association.) ! Auckland, January 14. The annual championship tournament . of the Dominion Bowling Association was . continued to-day in fine but windy weaI ther, and on greens heavy as a result of last evening's rain. Intersectional play j in the full-rink match resulted as follows: [ INTERSECTIONAL PLAY. ! First Round.—Karangahake (M'Lean, ' Morrison, Hilton, Jury, 23, v. Auckland (RyTie, Carlaw, Black Osmond), 15. St. John's (Green, Jack, Christie, Gori don), 18, v. West End (Tonkin, Whitten, > Coutts, Beecroft), 14. . . Beecroft started well, getting singles out I of the first two heads. Then Gordon had r a run of scoring—l, 1, 2. 1, 2—and led, I 7—2, on the seventh head. Beecroft followed with, a run of 4, 1, 2, and led, [ 9—7. Beecroft held an advantage to the j sixteenth head, when the game was 11 all. . Gordon scored 2, 1, 0, 3, 1, on the last [ five heads to Beecroft's 3, and thus won by a margin of four points. Second Round.—Karangahake (Jury), ; 22, v. St. John's (Gordon), 21/ At the j' ninth head a four to Jun r made the game l 14 —10 in his favour. Even scoring followed, and the game was 18—14 in Jury's j favour at the eighteenth head.. Gordon got 3 out of the nineteenth, and Jury : three out of the twentieth, and the game was 22—17 in Jury's favour and one head [ to go. Gordon got four out of three, and Jury thus won by the narrowest possible margin. PaJmerston North (H. Nash, Dixon, F, J. Tasker, J. A. Nash), 28, v. Thorndon ' (Longton, Johnson, Shallcrass, Munro), IG. j Nash had an easy win in this game. ' He started with a Tun of 2,. 1, 3; 2, 1„ • nnd led, 9—o, at the fifth head. A five j to Mimro gave him a ohance, but Nasli 1 went one better and got six out .of the next head, and following with two i singles led, 17—5, at the ninth head. This , lead was maintained to the end of the l game. c Te Hiwi (Baskervilla, Powles, Frost, E. 1 J. Hill), 18, v. Ponsonby (M. Casey, M. Taylor, V. Casey, M. Walker), 16. A. five to Hill at the fifth head gave a him a lead, 7—3. The game was 11 all t at the twelfth head, and a three to 9 Walker at the. nineteenth put the game 5 16 all. Hill got a single at the twentieth B head when Walker was lying 5 up, and 8 pushed a closely-contested game with ant other on the last head. •Dominion Road (West, Gordon, Findlav, Dr. Moir), 22, v. New. Plymouth j (Ward, Morey, Barry, A. Smart), 19. !; THE SEMI-FINALS. f -Palmerston North (Nash), SO, v. Ka--8 rangahake (Jury), 18. 9 Jury started well with -2, 1, but Nash 0 got a six on the third head and followed " with 2, 4, 2, and led, 14—3. Jury then got three singles and a 2, and the gamo 1 was 14—8 in Nash's favour. The latter f got a 5, Jury a singlo, and Nash 4, 3, r making the game 26—9 in the latter's '. favour at the fourteenth head. Jury then s t scored two fours and a single, and the y came was 27—18, and three neads to go. i- Nash scored 2, x 1, and the game ended at the twentieth head. e To Hiwi (Hill), 22, v. Dominion Road [. (Moir), 17.. s Hill got a good start, scoring 3, 2, on the first two heads and a 3 on the fourth .. head, and thus led, B—l, He was never afterwards headed, although the game [. was 11—11 at the eleventh head. Hill continued to get the best of the scoring, k but Moir, when 7 down and two heads to e go, raided the hopes of his supporters by getting a throe. His team, however, ° gave him no assistance on the last head, ' and the required 4 was not obtained. " Tho final between Nash, of Palmerston J North, and Hill, of Te Hiwi, will be playB ed on Saturday afternoon.
