PUBLIC WORKS
GOING ON AS USUAL. "Publio works generally are in full swing," said the Hon. W. Fraser to a Dominion reporter yesterday. "Authorities have been issued freely, and the men are all omployed. I don't see any prospect of works stopping just now. It will be possible to carry on at the present rate for some. time. We are taking advantage of the fine weather to push on' with works, and we are making good progress. As usual people are. clamouring to have everything done, at once, but.of course that is impossible." It was suggested to Mr. Fraser that loan money for public works would not be procurable this year. "I don't want to say anything about loans," be replied. "I must have had some 'money, otherwise I could not have, carried' on until now, that is quite certain. The little store I had would not have been Fufficient. It is, a very Eood thing, I think, that I was careful with the monei, last■ rear."
