Acceptances for the Fox'ton .meeting close to-night. ' Owners who . intend patronising the Hutt Valley Trotting Club's fixture nest week should not overlook the closing of acceptances 'to-morrow night. The All Black three-year-old, Football, is now one of the fancied candidates for the Wellington Cup. At Ellerslie the colt was notioed- to be finishing fast at the end of a mile race. Palisade and Sister Radius, in charge of 'trainer Geo. Hepburn, were shipped from Dunedin by the Wimmera yesterday. They will be raced at the V.R.C. and A.J.C. Autumn Meetings. According to W. O'Halloran, who has just returned from Melbourne, the military authorities there have conceived a great liking for the racehorses Cloniaft and Sir Solo, and they have advised the owners that in all probability they will require them. As the authorities named only give up to .£4O for horses, the owners are not on the best of terms with themselves. The Masterton owner, Mr. R. Buiok, is expecting his recent purchase, Three (The Welkin— I Teppo) to arrive here during the next week or, eo. The youngster will be accompanied by another two-year-old in Two Lights, and by Veroneal, who is a year older. • The Sydney light-weight, K. Bracken, a very successful horseman, contemplates paying a visit to the Dominion for a couple of months. During his stay here he will take out a jockey's license. Jockey L. Hegarty, who has been riding in Melbourne for some time past,. is at present on a visit to - New Zealand. He is returning in three weoks' time. The Charlemagne II gelding, Canute, still continues to race badly for his new owner. He was entrusted with heavy support in the Plattsburg Handicap at Wallsend on January 1, but he finished out of a place. He was oarrying Ithe minimum impost. The ex-New Zealander, Ronald Cameron, is now riding at pony meetings in Melbourne, and during tho last couple of months he has been most successful. At Fitzroy on January 4 ho was successful on Directly in the 13.3 Handicap, and on Bonnie in tho 14.1 Handicap. Mr. A. J. Toxward's filly, Bon Reve, was taken to Riccarton last week by F. Chrisltmas, who will in future train her. Mr. J. J. Corry's horses, Killaloo and Heel Tap, are again located at -Riccarton, and will remain there until after the Midsummer Meeting of the Canterbury Jockey Club. After the sale of yearlings at Auckland last week, the Achilles—Paphia colt, which womt at 65gns., subsequently changed hands again at 150gns. The Wellington Cup fancy, Indigo, is expected to arrive at Trentham to-niglit. Nominations for the Taranaki, Gisborne, and Canterbury meetings close on Friday night. Yesterday morning at Trentham was an "off" morning, and very little fast work was done. Most of tho horses were exercised on the tan track. Kina, Alecto, Sir Wallace, and Monologue, who were raced at the West Coast meetings during itho Christmas holidays, returned to the North Island by the Arahura last evening. Alecto, who was reported to have broken down badly,_ was walking lame on arrival, but is said to be nothing more than very sore from the racing on hard tracks.
