The Pahiatua County Council decided at its meeting last Saturday to recommend that the Noxious Weeds Act be rigidly enforced in the Pahiatua district. Mr. ■ William Perry stated at the meeting of tho Masterton A. and P. Association on Saturday last that black-' 'berry was spreading in the Wairarapa. He urged farmers' to use their utmost endeavours to keep it in check. ■ A sharp rise in the price of stock in the Masterton district is predicted by a well-known stock buyer. , The Eketahuna Farmers' Union has decided to donate the proceeds from their two shows (field and horticultural) to the Belgian relief fund., "There ,is more blackberry in the Wairarapa than some people imagine," said Mr. William Perry at the meeting of the Masterton A. and P. Association on Saturday last. Mr. Perry pointed out that the blackberry was carried far aad wide by birds, and it could be seen in patches wherever there was a pateh of bush. It behoved farmers to do their utmost to prevent the pest from getting a hold. Owing to its large consumption of dairy produce, Wanganui, as the fifth city in New Zealand, is of importance to farmers and country storekeepers by supplying a good steady market.
