IS IT ENGLISH CHOLERA?
REMARKABLE SEIZURES 'AT . LIMESTONE ISLAND,, (By Telegraph.—Press 'Association,) Whangarel, January 8. 'K remarkable seizure of violent sickness attacked the' men employed on •Limestone Island.. At 10 o'clock this morning some twenty men were down suffering aoute pains in the stomach and vomiting, and by 2.80 p.m. it was reported that forty men were affected. The theory was set up that it is English cholera, but Dr. Hall, who visited tile island,, does not think so. Though he cannot at present diagnoso the complaint he believes it'to be some form of poisoning. Some of the men ate fish, but many had' other food, which makes the affair, all the more mysterious. The frhole population of the island is in a state of perturbation. "The matter is' being fully inquired into.
