The New Zealanders have always 1 stood high in the prize lists,-, and, all : things taken into account, they have a very creditable record. , It is now announced that the New ■ Zealand . Association of the Public I Schools of Great Britain has presented : a challenge cup which is to be handed to the New Zealand School whibh' heads" : the list in the Schools of Empire. Shooting Competition. ' The cup has to be .Won three years in succession, or .five years at intervals 1 , before becoming the property of any school. The trophy is : given for competition among the secondary schools.', _ -■ The Schools of Empire Cup was presented by His Majesty the King when Prince ox Wales. The competition was instituted in 1903, - and is fired under Bisley conditions. In 1913-14 .twelve of ■, the forty-nine competing schools were New Zealand institutions; In tho senior competition,. the...." New Plymouth High School, fired into second place, t and other New Zealand schools did well. The winning team was that from Char- !-. terhousa, England, with an average Bcore of 62.75.. New Plymouth's average score was 62.62., A New Plymouth boy (Sergeant A: H. Sutherland) tied with two other lads for the highest in- * dividual total. ; • The Auckland Grammar School has won the junior competition twice—in 1912 and In 1918. ; ' /• Tho results of the last shoots in 1 New .•?
