A BODY IDENTIFIED BY FINGERPRINTS.' . \ The body of the middle-agod man < Vhich was discovered in the harbour on Christmas. Day, has now .been sworn to as■. that of James Leech. The inquest was opened. over a week ago, but adjourned sine die, 60 that'finger-prints might be taken. Yesterday the inquest was concluded. Constable M'Kelvie said that on Christmas Day -he had received deceased's hody into the morgue.' The body, was decomposed, and the features unrecognisable. On December 28 witness took deceased's finger-prints, and iorwardcd them to the Finger-print Department,' where they were identified as those of James Leech.' The Coroner re- \ turned a verdict that the body was that > of James Leech, ond that it had been found drowned on December 25. ' HOTEL PORTER INJURED. - A porter'named Charles Aynsley, employed in the Thistle'lnn Hotel, had his right ■ thigh broken while going into the cellar of the hotel yesterday morning. The trap door of tho cellar < fell back on him, causing tho injury. ; He was removed to the Hospital, and I last night was reported to be doing as well as could be expected. * fodndTdead. : ' (By Telegraph—Press Association.) . A verdict- was roturned that death was ■ due to heart disease. ACCIDENT IN A QUARRY. Clsborne, January 6. A serious blasting accident occurred at thG Patutahi Quarry this afternoon. : Jamos Greon, the foreman of the \ quarry, aged 40, a married man, and ■ Archie Bugden, 30 years of age, single, j were putting in a charge on top of a 200 ft. face when a promature explosion took place, toppling both men i over the face," whence they rolled 200 ft. : down a slope.' . Both were badly cut 1 about, and very seriously burned by ' powder. It is feared that Green will lose his .eyesight. ' GIRL'S HAIR WRENCHED OFF. j Dunedin, January 6. ■ A serious accident happened to-day , to Miss Ruth Wobb; 20 years of age. ! Miss Webb was employed at Roslyn j Woollen Mills, and at closing time she t was sitting on the edge of a table, pre- i sumably attending to her hair which < became entangled in a working spindle. The skin and hair on her head and over one eyebrow wero wrenched off, and she wjis removed to the hospital, where I an operation was performed, and she < - was doing as well as could be expected to-night. .
