, DESPERATE BAYONET SORTIES RUSSIANS ALMOST SURROUND THE TURKS (Rec. January 6, 7.35 p.m.) Pstrograd, January 6. The Turks fought bravely, and held Sarikamysh resolutely. There were frequent desperate bayonet sorties, even the wounded continued firing nftor being struck down. This tenacity was due to the desire to enable the Turks in the Ardahean Olto districts to retiro. • Most of the trophies captured were of German manufacture. The Russians hold the main roads, and have almost surrounded the Turks, who are fleeing from the Ardahan'district. The enemy is frantically striving to find'an outlet, but the passes are deep in enow, THE 9TH TURKISH ARMY CORPS CAPTURED • London, January 6. Reuter's Petrograd correspondent states that the Russians, at Sari Kamysh captured the whole of the 9th Turkish Army Corps. Petrograd, January 5. A Communique confirms the reported capture of the 9th Turkish Army Corps at Sara Kamysh, in the province of Ears, ' EX-KHEDIVE TO COMMAND TURKISH TROOPS. London, January 5. Farid.Boy, Leader of the Egyptian Nationalists, visited Vienna, and convened a meeting of. the ex-Khedive of Egypt and the German and Turkish Ambassadors, and then proceeded to Berlin. ' CHIEF SPY, OF ENVER BEY ARRESTED. ■ Cairo, January 5. • Mmay Abdullah, a Sudanese, Enver Pasha's chief spy, has been arrested for endeavouring to seduce Egyptian soldiers from their duty. , He was found in possession of a Turkish cypher note-book and a letter instructing him to incite the army to rebellion. He was sentenced to death, but the sentence was ' oommuteii to penal servitude for life. THE DEFEAT OF THE TURKS WAS COMPLETE ' ■ SIBERIANS SABRE TWO TURKISH COMPANIES. (Rec. January 7, 0.5 a.m.) PetFograd, January 6. Official.—The Turkish defeat at Sarikanush was complete. The Ninth Army' Corps was annihilated. The commander, Iskhan Pasha, over a hundred officers, a large number of men, guns, machine-guns, ammuni- - tion, and supply columns were captured.
