PASSPORT CONSPIRACY
A LAWYER ARRESTED

London, January 6. The "Daily Chronicle's" New York correspondent reports that the Secret Service state attache of tho German Embassy is compromised on the pass? port conspiracy. Many reservists on the Vaterland, Kaiser-Wilhelm, and other German vessels disappeared. It is beheved they rejoined the navy.. Lawyer Deicles, the Tammany chief, has been arrested! at Philadelphia. He knowledge of the plot, but admits knowing the prime mo\er Wedell. It is understood tho latter is aboard the Borgenfjord. [It was reported on January 4 that a Dig organisation had been unearthed the object of which was to repatriate a thousand German officers. The ramifications of the organisation were said to be so widespread and the diplomatic situation so_ delicate that President Wilson was himself directing the Secret Service Department's investigations.]
