I BRITISH AND GERMANS ' } FRATERNISE [ ' ON CHRISTMAS EVE'' ■ i London, January I.' - _ Soldiers' letters recount that the English, and Germans fraternised at several pointa on Christmas Eve. They ceased firing, left the trenches, met in tho cpan, and exchanged souvenirs, wine, chocolates, and puddings. Two regi- , anents established an informal armistice smd spent Christmas Day without hostility. At night the Germans from the trenches shouted to the Englishmen •"Sing to us," and cheered them when they sang "While Shepherds Watched " '"Load,-Kindly Light," and "Abide jWith Me." . The Germans'concerned were mostly Basons.

TWO AUSTRALIAN SEAMEN. Melbourne, January 2. Two able seamen, Charles Gardiner and Herbert Williams, died at Rabaul of malaria. FRENCH DIRIGIBLE.

GERMAN CHANCELLOR'S SON ' .'. KILLED. ' (Rec. January 3,10.80 a.m.) Amsterdam, January 2. TEe "Lokal Anzeiger" states that, '■: Herr yon Befchmann Hollweg's (German ; Chancellor) son was killed in Poland oil ; December 9. A message dated Berae, December 14, stated that the German Chancellor's son was badly wounded and made prisoner iat Petrikau. . BRUNO CARIBALDI. TRIBUTE TO HIS MEMORY. (Reo,. January 4, 0.5 a.m.) , , Paris,. January 3.' There was an imposing funeral for ■•. Bruno Garibaldi and Lieutenant Trom- ' betta, who was killed beside him. ; General, Gourand at the graveside , ! paid a tribute to Bruno Garibaldi.
