A NERVOUS PEOPLE
AND HIGHLY STRUNG' (Roc. December 30, 5 p.m.) London, December 29. A British doctor who spout four months in Germany says the Germans are supposed to bo phlegmatic, but this is incorrect. Under a calm manner, thoy are highly strung, nervous people, and react very easily under good and bad-news. ' Many of the young soldiers lost their reason -under fire, and went raving mad. The first line of troops are hard fellows, able to bearthe fatigues and discomforts of a rapid campaign. The second line is of much lower physique, because they had begun to live comfortably, and lacked the stomach for war. This has revealed the essential weakness of the German nation, which is a to get out of nonditiou at a relatively early age. — ("Times" and Sydnoy "Sun" Services.)
