(Ruy Lopez).—Kellington continued with the P to Q3 variation, and after, a oarefully-played game.-.'a..'draw was agreed to on the. 37th move. 1 . Grierson v. Hill (French. Defence). — Hill lost a piece early in the game, and resigned on the"4lst move. Buckett v. C. E. Fox (Centre Counter Game) .-rThe latter tost; a pawn on the Bth move, and getting into difficulties resigned on tnovo 28. 13. G. Fox v. Pleasants (Evans Gambit Declined) .—Pleasants .won a piece on the middle, game, and scored a win on move 29. Moore v. Severne (Ruy Lopez).—Another carefully-played game drawn on the 37th move. •■Mara v. Dodds (Buy .Lopez).—A very interesting game ' 'unfinished. Mara has three pawns against a knight and .pawn. • Hicks had a bye. ! The Rev. B. G. Fox lias withdrawn from , the contest on account of illbealth, and his remaining games will be scored to his opponents. Third Round.—Oram won from B. G. Fos by default.' ' S. W. Moore beat 0. C. Pleasants, at thd 25th move. F. K. Kelling beat W. 0. Hill on the 24th move. The other games are unfinished.
