On Friday. December 25 (Christmas Day) tho Postal Department will bo closed in all its branches. Mails for dispatch by steamers will closo at 8 p.m. on the previous evening, and tho only dispatches*' of correspondence by trains wiU close on Christmas Day as follows:—For the Wairarapa, Hawke's Bay, Manawatu. Rangitikei, Wanganui, and Taranaki districts at 5.45 a..m and for Auckland and Auckland district at 8 a.m. The City and suburbs receivers will not be cleared during the day, but the midnight clearances wiH be made as usual.
On Thursday, December 24, an extra, clearance will be made from the city and suburban receivers as follows:—Te Ato, Wellington South, and Thorndon, at 5 p.m.; Hatatai, Kilbirnie, Miramar, Seatoun, Island Bay, Vogeltown, Brooklyn, Kclburn Northland, and Wadostown, at 4 p.m. Thero will not be any deliveries by letter-carriers on Christmas Day, but on Thursday, December 24, tho Carriers' Department (entrance upstairs from Featherston Street) will bo open for tho delivery of correspondence addressed to streets in the city and suburbs from 8 to 9 p.m.; also tho public counter for the delivery of correspondence addressed to the Post Office will ho open from 8 to 9 p.m. The parcels delivery counter will open from 8 to 9 p m On Saturday. December 26 (Boxing D«,y) the Chief Post Office will be open in all its branches (except Money-order and Savings Bank) from 9 to 10 a.m. Mails foT dispatch by steamers will close at 8 a.m., and the only dispatches of correspondence by trains will closo as follows:—For Wairarapa. Hawke's Bay, Manawatu, Rangitikei. Wanganui, and Taranaki Districts, at 5.45 a.m.; for Auckland and Auckland district at 8 a.m. There will be one delivery of correspondence by letter-carriers in tho city and suburbs, which wiU closo at tbo Chief Post Office at 7 a.m. The receivers in the City.
