Dalgety <md Co., Ltd., report having held their monthly eela in Otaki yards, on Tuesday, when a good yarding of both sheep and cattle came forward, which met with fair competition. " Buyers were more numerous for ehecp than for ' cattle, femalo cattle especially being rather dull of sale. Principal business effected was as follows:—400 poor-conditioned ewes and lambs, 156.;'. good-conditioned 4-tooth wethers', 19s. to 19a. 2d. Cattle: 18-nionths steers, £5 15s. to £5 165.: 15 months sheers, £3 2s. 64. to £3 155.; light fat cows, £5 15s. to £6; forward empty cows, £4 to £4 12s. 6d.; store cowe, £3 to £3 17s. 6d.; cows and' calves, £4 55.; yearling heifers, £2 le. :to £2 12s. 6d.; 15 months heifers, £2 19s. 6d. to £3 2s. 6d.; 2-year heifers, £3 10s.; springing heifers, £4 12e. 6d. to £4 195.; empty 2-year heifers, £3 Bs. A large entry ol sows with litters, offered on recount of Mr. P. Bydcr, met good competition and sold at from £5- to £6 10s. •
Messrs. Dalgoty and Co., Ltd., report 'having held a-successful clearing sale of dairy stock at the Homestead, Mangaroa, on Wednesday, on account of Mr. A. B. Couto. Buyers attended in fair numbers arid the herd.of cows, 60 in number, came forward in very good order. Considering the time of year prices realised were good, even although the sale lacked animation. Principal tales were as under':—Cows .in milk,'. £7 10s. to £9 55.; February-March culvers, £6 to £8 10s.; winter calvers, £4 10s. to £7 17s. 6d.; heifers, in milk, £5 to £6 7s. 6d.; store and unsound cows, £3 to £4 ss.
Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on their Pahiatua sale of Tuesday,' as follows:—We offered a heavy yarding of both sheep and cattle. There was good inquiry, for sheep, the bulk of the entry changing hands, elthough prices were slightly easier. Cattle were dull at auction, but'we made a.fair clearance subsequently. COMMERCIAL ITEMS HIDE AND SKIN SALE. Messrs: Dalgoty and Company, Ltd., Palmerston North, report:—At our, usual monthly sale on Monday, w.e offered a large catalogue of all classes. Best classes of sheepskins showed an advance on previous sales, while all inferior and short wool skins were somewhat lower, and difficult of sale. Hides of all descriptions showed an advance on last sales' rates, cow hides realising as high as 93d. per lb. Wool: The offering consisted mostly of. oddments and wool-scourers' lines of pieces and locks, and prices ruled easier. Crossbred, bright and clean, 63d. to 9)d.; inferior and seedy, 7d. to Bd.; dead wool, best lines, BJd. to 9d; inferior and rough, 7d. to 73d.; lambs, B|d. to 9id.; crutchings, 6*d. to 7d.; bellies and pieces, 6Jd. to 7Sd.; locks and pieces, sd. to 5Jd.; locks, 4d. to 43d.
