WHERE TO GO AND WHAT TO SEE. Wellington is never remarkable for the attractions it offers holiday-makors at Christmas. That is probably why about three times as many people leave Wellington for other centres than come here for the Christmas. On Christmas Day a local golf tourney will commence on the Heretaunga links, where the golfing week-ender can always be sure of a good time. In the evening "The Messiah" will be performed again by. tho 'Wcllingtoii Royal Choral Society, with Mr. Peter Dawson and Miss Mina Caldow among i tho soloists. 'Special programmes will also be given at several of the picture theatres. On Boxing Day thoso who enjoy racing may tako their choice of the meetings to be held at Carterton and Palmerston North. Lovers of cricket will doubtless attend at the Basin Reserve, whore Marlborough will play Wellington's second best team. Its best goes to Auckland. There will be a tennis tourney at Day's Bay, club bowling tourney on all tho greens, baseball and shooting (at Trentham). There will bo a cheap all-day excursion to Picton, and to those who do not care to travel so far thoro will bo harbour excursions and the Catholic picnic at Seatoun.
