TRACK WORK AT WINGATUI. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Dunedin, December 22. . Bad weather kept trainers and horses away from Wingatui this morning until after 8 o'clock, but between showers an inspection of the track showed the going to be surprisingly firm, although the plough gallop has been temporarily put out of use.

St. Brigid wag first to appear, and on the inside Brass, where all the work took place, strode out well when negotiating seven furlongs in lmin. S6sec. Pretty Jans ran over five furlongs in lmin. 7 4-ssec., and Golden Rupee and Marvelite were not fully extended when travelling the same ground in lmin. Bsec. United Service anil John Barleycorn finished together at the end of six furlongs in lmin. 20 2-ssec., and were not hunted along at any part of the journey. Both horses are looking and travelling nicely. Salzburg was beating Micky Free at the end of six furlongs in lmin. 23sec., and Wharfinger and Peerless had no difficulty in. getting the ,6ame . task in lmin. 22sec. ' v ■--.-T-'r,,--,. Volspeil got the'best of the start with' Florahne and ReUown at the start of six furlongs and finished with the last-named in-limn. 22 l-ssec. Floraline 'broke a blood-vessel and was pulled up. Golden King did a nice working gallop over seven furlongs in lmin. 36 2-ssec., and pulled up sound and well. Ogier, beginning slowly,' picked up Taft after going a furlong, and ran seven furlongs in lmin. 36 4-ssec., tlie last half in Bisec. Russo worked an easy six furlongs in lmin. 26sec. Gapon broke away at the.six furlong post, and, picking up Speedometer between the fourtli and the fifth disc, ran the last five furfangs in lmin. Bsec. Speedometer went 53sec. for the halfmile, and shaped well, Varanian, Red Charm, and a couple of others were restricted to easy pacing.
