WHEAT SUPPLIES

THE LOAN FBOM AUSTRALIA. The Prime Minister informed a reporter on Sunday that it was practically assured that the New Zealand Government would receive about 100,000 bushels of wheat on loan from New South Wales, to he repaid as soon as wheat from Canada arrived here. This was mentioned a day or two ago in a news cablegram from Australia, and on Saturday the Prime Minister received an official communication on the subject. In Australia now there is more than enough wheat for immediate requirements, this teason's harvest having just been saved. Unfortunately it has wen a poor harvest, hence the necessity for New Zealand undertaking to pay for the wheat with other wheat and not with cash. The loan will satisfy the demand in New Zealand until the Canadian wheat reaches our ports, and until our own wlicat harvest is gathered.
