KARORI DEFENCE RIFLE CLUB The Karori Club hail a muster of GO members at Trentham on Saturday afternoon, when the second match of the first series was fired over ranges 800 and 000 yards. The weather was on good behaviour—for Trentham—and scoring was rather better than on any previous Saturday this season. The old members iiad a regular field day, eleven of them being «t the top of the list, headed by Major 11. Marshall and Rilmn. 11. Randell, with 61 each. The two ammunition prizes presented by Eflmn. I'. W. Ching for the best score "off ithe gun" at 1)00 yards, one for scratch men und the other confined to members who havo joined tho club this season, were iyon by Major H. Marshall and Rflmn. E. Smith, with scores 34 and 25 respectively. The Wellington meeting on January 1 and 2 will now bo tho "Mecca" for club members. The club championship competitions will bo resumed on January 9, 1915.

Ranges fired were": seven shots at 800 yards and ten shots at 900 yards. Highest score in A Class was made by C, B. Jenkins, his total beiDg 79. In B Class F. E. Cooper was top with 71, and C Class, F. L. Norris with .71. The weather on Saturday was good for shooting. Next Wednesday and Saturday the club will firo short range matches—3oo, 500, and 600 yards—a't Miromar, in view of the Wellington Rifle Association meeting. old navals v. highland club. The annual match between the Old Navals ami Highland Rifle Club was hred last Saturday afternoon under favourable conditions. The A .team of the Highlanders won toy 40 points, and the B team lost by 28 points. Pull scores were made by Rifleman C. Hugo and Rifleman J. Pitt, and botli being young shots they deserve credit for their performance. The possible was also registered by Eitteman A Ballingor, who was Bhooting as a visitor.
