"A SCRAP OF PAPER." SUCCESSFUL' SALE OF CALENDARS The scheme originated, by the Rev. E. H. Hobday to raise money for the British and Belgian Poor Relief Fund by street sales of calendars was very successfully carrield through on "Saturday. As it happened, the weather was fine, the streets were busy, the people were generous. The highly satisfactory result of the venture is thaf£loo will be handed over to the fund. The calendar, which was designed and afterwards copyrighted by Mr. Hobday, gives prominence to the olause in the treaty, the "sorap of paper" for which England wont to war, guaranteeing the integrity of neutral Belgium. All the sales were undertaken by the ladies of the Vivian Street Baptist Church, under the superintendenco of Mrs. Charles Godber. THE "DOMINION" LIST; BELGIAN RELIEF FUND. Contributions to the fund for the relief of the Belgians in distress- will subsequently _ be forwarded to the authorities in Belgium for distribution.

LARGE AMOUNT~REMITTED. The Prime Minister has received the following from the High Commissioner: —London, December 19: —Sir T. Coghlan, Agent-Gerieral for New South Wales, has' handed £60,000 to the American Embassy through tho Belgian Minister for tho relief of the Belgians. Tho donation comprises contributions from Queensland, New Zealand, and New South Wales, making a total of £100,000.
