THE MARDI GRAS

The Mardi Gras, the annual carnival promoted by the Napier 30,000 Club, promisos to be on a grander scale than over this year, and Napier should be a very 'attractive place on spend the Christmas. The election for'the Maori Queen has resulted in Mrs. Nirai Runga Aporo being exalted by a large majority. The result caused great jubilation in the Moteo Pa, where the Queen was honoured with a special hakk. The big al fresco display in connection with the Maidi Gras takes place on Boxing Day, when a processional spectacle'of great magnitude and splendour is promised. There will 'bo soven mounted displays, and over a hundred Indians, cowboys, Lancere, Cossacks, etc., will participate in the fun. The arrangements are, as before, in the capable hands of Mr. John Hopkins.
