CANADA'S MILITARY ' RESOURCES London, December 16. The Right Hon. Sir Robert Borden'e statement of Canada's military resources has occasioned wide comment. Its quiet assurance of ultimate British victory is especially commended. The "Pall Mall Gazotto"_ says: "Sir R. Borden's memorandum is a picture in miniature o{ the difliculties caused by the lack of organisation for war prevailing throughout the Empire. At the same timn there is no lack of determination by the British people to see the struggle through to a victorious conclusion. Invidious comparison is sometimes made of the willingness of Britons overseas to serve the Empire nnd tho Alleged slackness of Britons at Home. This is unfair and misleading j
but the Dominions hare done ■ and ard doine magnificently. The Australians and New Zealanders-are not a whit behind the Canadians in their readiness to serve. The tide of British power is rising steadily and and the Germans will shortly be compelled, to realise the fact, against which they have stubbornly sqfc their byes, that tie Empire is no haphazardcollection of tributary States, but a .brotherhood 6f free peoples with ideals of peace and liberty,- and a determination that these ideals shall prevail jri the world, > and that the weakest nations shall onj&y the right to live-their own lives equally with the strongest."
