THE TENTED CITY AT THE PYRAMIDS

There aro miles of white tents intersected by streets. Thousands of white pebbles have been arranged as emblems. The Government is erecting booths for cafes and shops. Admiring crowds visit the camp to watch the men and horses exercising.
According to official information which was published in Sydney, the training of the Australians and New Zealandere will be carried out by the officers taken from • the respective dominions. Lord Kitohenor has given explicit instructions that each brigadier and battalion commander is to be held direotly responsible for the training of his men. In training regulations and instructions issued hurriedly shortly after war was declared, and reprinted in Australia' before the. departure of the troops, it ie laid down that while a commanaing officer is held responsible, he should act as a director of instructions rather than as an instructor himself, on the ground that anything that encourages initiative and sense oPcommand amongst his subordinate officers is to be encouraged.
