■ &- — FITZGERALD FOURS. Two heats of the contest for the Fitzgerald Fours were rowed by the Star Boating Club yesterday evening. The first heat resulted as follows:—Ev M'Grath (str.), G. Field, D. O'Sullivan, and W. Copeland, 1; W. Higgiris.(str.), Pollock, W". Harrington, and L. Devine, 2; G. Carr.(str.), T. L. Ward, R. Doighton, and H. Mason, 3 Second heat: P. Hereford (str.), W. S. Cederholra, R. Kennedy, and D. L. Corrigan, 1; H. B.Tomlinson (str.), D. L. Robertson, F. Radcliffe. and P. U. Dodwell, 2; H. Lamson (str.), E. 0. Day, R. Duncan, and H. R. Tolloy, 3. The final will be rowed this evening. PROFESSIONAL SCULLING CHAMPIONSHIP. P. Hannon, of Wellington, an : oarsman with a Parramatta reputation, who has designs upon the professional sculling championship of New Zealand, now said to bo held by Wm. Webb, of Wanganui, lias secured backing to the extent of £200. He hopes to bring off a match with Webb in March next.
