HOW BEYERS MET HIS DEATH * Pretoria, December 9.' Official—Commandant Dutoit engaged General Beyers's commando on the Sandspmiit, fifteen miles south of Bothaville.. General Beyers _ split the commando, and himself, with thirty men, fled to the Vaal near its junction with the Sandspruit (about 100 miles north of Blomfontoin). A sharp engagement took place on tho bank of the Vaal, which was flooded. ■ General Beyers,with a four, followers, tried to swim tlioir horses across.
