MILK VENDOR IN TROUBLE
'ALLEGED 'ADULTERATION OF, MILK. !A oase of Beijing milk alleged to be adulterated, -which was adjourned from the Lower Hutt Court, was continued before Mr. W. G. Riddel], S.M., yesterday. Arthur Copping, of Gracefield •I , arm, Lower Hutt, was charged with soiling four samples of milk which were below the standard to Benjamin S. Reed, Health Inspector. The first sample was alleged to -have contained ll.B.per cent, of added water, tho second 14.5 per cent., the third 10 per cent., and the fourth 10.9 per cent. Mr. P. S .Macassey appeared for the Health Department and Mr. °F. E. Potherick for Copping. Formal evidence as to the purchase of tho milk was given by Inspector Reed. ,Mr. F. E. Petherick, for the defence, raised three points: \1) That the bottleß containing the samples of milk were not properly corked; (2) that the analyst's certificate did not in the matter of ■wording comply with the regulations ; and (3) that, the certificate failed to show the quantity of added, water. Tho Magistrate reserved his decision.
